I'm at VW of manhattan with Aaron Brown looking at this beautiful XL1. Check my comments for more pictures of the car.

Glad to see it's making its way north!

That VW needs a dab of flourescent Green, like a splotch. For the Jackson Pollock in you.

I wonder if I'm the only one who thinks this is ugly. I HAAAAATE the rear wheel cover plates and it looks like a regurgitation of the Honda Insight (which was equally ugly).

It's all about physics. The XL1, the Insight, and other cars designed for maximum fuel efficiency adopt the covered-wheel design because reduced drag = lower fuel consumption. Sexiness is not the point of this car.

This, and not the Phaeton, should be VWs halo car in North America.

We all drove it yesterday and today! Expect a story soon. It's pretty amazing.

I think it's the next beetle in terms of revolutionary.

I don't want to leave.

I bet.
Being able to touch the future, but knowing that it will leave sucks.

I think it's rather sexy the way it is. Though, I am a bit weird and I like fuel economy just as much as I like speed and handling.

It's pretty cool to see it in person. The build quality and detailing are much more interesting than the Insight. When you open up the doors and the trunk, and you see all the integrated carbon fiber and the side-door cameras, the design almost doesn't even matter any more. It's a fricken cool car.

We all know this thing will never sell in the US. It's 214-mpg Up! cousin , meanwhile...
